During his fifty year career, Peter
Diamond accrued more than 1,000 professional film,
television and theatrical credits,
working as
a stunt arranger, choreographer, swordmaster,
performer, stunt double, director and
actor.
Many people will be familiar with his 'Star
Wars' connections. Peter choreographed the action
in the original trilogy of films and appeared
on screen in several different guises, most notably
as the infamous, stick-wielding Tusken
Raider. He was Stunt Co-ordinator on Raiders
Of The
Lost
Ark as well
as 'Who Framed Roger Rabbit', Princess
Bride, and the first 'Highlander' film -
in which he once again appeared on screen,
as the Immortal called 'Fasil'.
In later years, that central slab
of work gave him a new and inspiring pursuit: that of the
Sci-Fi Convention Star. Many folks encountered
him at festivals around the world, where
he would sign autographs and engage in
discussion about his life and work.
But
those high-profile productions were just the tip of the iceberg. In his
career,
Peter was employed in various capacities
on twenty-or-so classic 'Hammer' horror films,
a handful of 'Carry-On' movies, 'The Fifth Musketeer',
One Of Dinosaurs Is Missing,
Candleshoe,
'Kidnapped', and 'Alfie' and - oh - so many to mention. He was actuallly
RADA trained and commenced his stunt career
working on such Golden Age classics
as 'Ivanhoe', 'Knights Of The Round Table'
and 'The Dark Avenger'. He even appeared
briefly in the classic tale of The
Dam Busters.
Peter's television series spanned
the decades alongside his film work, from the heyday
of live television productions right up
to the present day. A cross-section of his credits
includes 'Dr Who', 'Ivanhoe', 'The Saint',
'Sir Francis Drake', 'Danger Man', 'Z-Cars',
'Softly, Softly', 'The Prisoner', 'The
Avengers', 'Last Of The Mohicans', 'Return Of The
Saint', 'Dick Turpin', 'Minder', 'Jeeves
And Wooster', New World's 'Zorro' series,
'Highlander: The Series', 'Where The Heart
Is', 'Jonathon Creek', 'One Foot In The
Grave', 'Rosemary And Thyme', and 'Heartbeat'.
Sadly,
Peter died in March 2004. But his work lives on, and this site exists
to chronicle
his many credits. In my other online
guise, I own and operate Toonhound.com,
a busy
little site which takes up an awful
lot of my working day, and eats in to the time I have
available for these pages. Maybe we
won't be having daily updates here, but there
should still be infrequent additions and
updates to the indexes, so keep stopping by!
