Christopher Lee is the Spanish Privateer
in
charge of the "Diablo", a
galleon adrift off the Cornish coast
after the defeat of the Armada.
He and his crew convince the locals
that, in fact, it is Drake who
has lost the battle, and thus they seize
control of the town. But
some of the townsfolk aren't so easily
swayed...
This was one of three pirate films
made by Hammer in the 60s,
"Devil Ship Pirates" kept
Peter busy with plenty of action to choreograph,
including several swordfights. Indeed,
he received a rare opening credit
for his work on the film.
But he was also employed on the other
side of the camera, as you'll
see below...

Peter
features on screen throughout the film. He plays
one of the Spanish crew. You can't miss
his bald head and pink
shirt, popping up in numerous scenes. It's
a meaty role, though
it's non-speaking, and he's uncredited for
his performance.

His most noticable appearance occurs during
the tavern fight
54mins in to the film. That's him, above,
urging on the fighters.
He's clearly seen hauling up one of the
duellists and casting
him back into the frey...
