PETER DIAMOND'S STAGE
WORK
________________________________________________________________________________________
Peter
was no stranger to the theatre. He started his career on stage, in Sunderland
in the late 1940s, before attending RADA.
In the 1950s and 1960s, many of the tv
series he worked on were performed
live, and throughout his career, he returned to
tread the boards, to choreograph swordplay
and stage fighting at the Royal Opera
House, Sadler's Wells, the Old Vic,
the National Theatre and the London Palladium,
amongst others. Identifying exactly
what he did, and when, is proving very tricky
indeed, but as and when performances are
pinned down, they'll be listed here
for your reference and perusal. Here's
two to get us started:

Romeo And Juliet
March 1953 - Sadler's Wells
An opera in two acts by Heinrich Sutermeister,
conducted by James Robertson
and produced by George Devine. The
program includes the following credit:
'The fight in Act 1 arranged by Peter
Diamond'

Jack And The Beanstalk
Christmas 1973/1974 - City Varieties
/ Leeds
Star clown Charlie Cairoli took the lad
of this panto, with Peter relegated to
one half of the pantomime cow. Sadly,
we don't yet recall which end he played!
We do know, however, that said cow
costume was used by the family for many
years after the show. She was a well-travelled
bovine, indeed...
